MITCHELL — Elementary students looking for a good book to read have another option to find one at Longfellow Elementary School in Mitchell.
The school held a ribbon-cutting Friday, Jan. 10 for its new book vending machine. Longfellow Elementary School is the second elementary school in the district to have a machine that dispenses books that students can take home and keep for themselves. Gertie Belle Rogers also has a machine that students can access.

Each book costs a single token, which students can acquire from faculty members by completing reading challenges or for their birthday.
The machines are stocked with books donated by parents or purchased by the school through the Scholastic Book Fair.
