It’s a well-known fact that once you’ve passed airport security, there’s no turning back – and when it comes to purchasing necessities, you’re often faced with inflated prices, which can be frustrating.
So, if hunger strikes, you’ll have to accept the higher costs and not let it spoil your holiday mood.
However, one woman insists that this doesn’t have to be the case for certain items. She reveals a trick to avoid paying for something that’s always “overpriced” while you eagerly await your flight to paradise. TikToker @hangrybynature shared “three life-changing tips for flying,” one of which many travellers may not have even considered.

She suggests bringing a reusable water bottle through security “because once you pass security checks, you’ll find water fountains everywhere to fill your bottle.”
This, she explains, will “save you from buying overpriced airport water,” where the cost of staying hydrated can be significantly higher. Needless to say, purchasing water on the plane itself can be quite costly, so you’ll want to avoid that at all costs and take your own on the plane anyway.
Other tips she shared include “finding the latch” to allow you to “slide in and out” of your plane seat “with ease,” eliminating the struggle of moving around – particularly if you’re seated in the aisle.
She revealed that the latch is “beneath the aisle seat handlebar,” and by lifting the armrest, you can avoid accidental bumps and bruises when hastily getting in and out of the seat – a situation all too familiar when someone is behind you and the trolley is coming down the aisle.
Her final piece of advice was to avoid exchanging currency at the airport, as they capitalise on tourists’ need for local currency upon arrival, offering less favourable rates.
She even suggested that withdrawing money from an ATM might be a better option than using an airport exchange service. Another travel expert commented: “Great tips, and sometimes I take what we know for granted.”
One person expressed frustration at not knowing about the armrest trick earlier, with another vowing to try it on their next flight.
