If you love the Oscar-winning film The The Revenant, the streaming giant Netflix now has the series for you.
American Primeval is a six-part series that is on Netflix now, not only with glowing reviews from big names, but is created by the same person who co-wrote the screenplay of the Oscar-winning movie – with another Oscar winning movie on Netflix being called ‘uncomfortable’ – The Revenant, Mark L Smith.
The series is being called a must watch for fans of western films, as it has a connection to the iconic film The Revenant which was awarded three Academy Awards at the 88th Oscars in 2016.
“A mother and son fleeing from their past form a found family while confronting a harsh landscape of freedom and cruelty in the American West,” Netflix writes about the series.

The limited series stars Taylor Kitsch, Dane Dehaan, Betty Gilpin, Kim Coates and more. The characters in the show seemingly only have one goal they are focused on – survival.
Forbes gave their review on the mini series, complimenting the crew who brought the series to life, thanks to their work on set and costume design choices.

“The American frontier is as much a character here as any of the speaking parts, similar to The Revenant. And the attention to detail in the costumes and sets is extraordinary,” Forbes wrote.
The Hollywood Reporter also gave their opinion on the series, calling the casts that stars in the limited series “a strong ensemble”.
“Boasting a strong ensemble of actors buried under period-appropriate layers of troweled-on grime and scruffiness, the show has an undeniable visceral impact and should find a Taylor Sheridan-primed audience willing to buy in,” the Hollywood Reporter wrote.
On Rotten Tomatoes, American Primeval has a 92% Popcornmeter, with multiple top critics praising the show in the reviews of Rotten Tomatoes.
“At its best, American Primeval is a raw, bloody odyssey that will pierce your skull like a hatchet flung face-first,” wrote David Opie for Empire Magazine.
