The Murfreesboro City School Board has voted to remove a book that was the target of a man who calls himself the Book Ban Preacher.
During the December 10th School Board meeting Pastor John Amanchukwu spoke out against a book called “It feels good to be yourself.” It’s a children’s book about being transgender. Amanchukwu forced the meeting into a recess when he wouldn’t stop talking about the book. Pastor Amanchukwu has a reputation for going across the country and speaking out against certain books. At least one member of the Murfreesboro School Board is labeling the speech by Pastor Amanchukwu as a “show.”
“Never contacted the school, never contacted central office and never contacted this board, even though he came and yelled at us about this dangerous book we had on the shelf,” said board member Amanda Moore.
The book “It feels good to be yourself,” was removed by the school board after a panel took a closer look at the book and deemed it inappropriate.
