LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Girl Scouts Cookie Rally Festival took place on Saturday morning, marking the start of the Cookie Entrepreneur Program.
Girl Scouts, referred to as “Girl CEOs,” have been preparing for this moment, with their online shopping websites going live on January 6. The cookie booths are set to open on February 7.
“It’s a platform for the girls to gain an entry point in a fun and engaging way to learn the five business skills of Goal Setting, Money Management, People Skills, Decision Making, and Business Ethics,” says Donna Namcher, Chief Operating Officer for Girls Scouts of Southern Nevada.
Nancy Becker is the Board President for Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada.
She says, “Although people know about cookies and they associate Girl Scouts with cookies. They forget the whole purpose is to teach the business skills.”
The event featured a lineup of local talent, including mascots such as Aviators, Spruce, and McGruff the Crime Dog, as well as performances by groups like the Nevada State Spirit Team.
During the Cookie Rally, participants learned five essential business skills through various activities, including decision-making and people skills.
Organizers described the Cookie Rally as the Girl Scouts’ New Year.
