Abhishek emphasized that using films as a means to support his business ventures sucked the joy out of his creative work.
Abhishek Bachchan recently shared insights into his business ventures and investments. He revealed that in the past, he took on film projects primarily to fund his sports business. However, he’s since shifted his approach, prioritizing creative fulfillment over financial gains.
Abhishek emphasized that using films as a means to support his business ventures sucked the joy out of his creative work. He’s now focused on pursuing projects that bring him personal satisfaction. “Thankfully, I have moved on from that thought process. I realised, about 2-3 years into kabaddi and football, that signing innumerable films to finance my love for sport and the business of sport was was not something which I was very happy doing,” he said in an interview with CNBC.
The Guru actor revealed that relying on films to fund his business ventures, although sustainable, lacked creative fulfillment. It is sustainable, it might not be a lot of fun. And then what happens is that you stop making creative choices, you start making financial choices. And I think in a creative field, that’s harakiri,” he explained. He stressed on his desire to make films for artistic reasons, rather than just financial gain. “I wanted to choose films based on my creative passion, not just to support my hobby and fill my bank account,” he said.
However, Abhishek mentioned that he has established a “family office” to manage his finances and investments. After 7 years, he has achieved a balanced financial portfolio, enabling him to run his sporting business sustainably. He treats his business as a passion, but prioritizes profitability, stating he won’t compromise on making a profit.
In terms of films, the actor was last seen in I Want To Talk, directed by Shoojit Sircar.
