Owner of RyRy’s Restaurant Ryan Fredericks shared that cooking has been a significant part of his life since childhood, which he attributes to growing up in a big family. His mother ran a canteen at Bourda Market, where he and his brother often helped out. It was his mother, he acknowledged, who was a major influence in his life and who taught him a lot about cooking. He also mentioned his brother Randy, who introduced him to various herbs and spices from around the world; expanding his palette for a variety of dishes and as he got older, Fredericks developed an interest in exploring cuisines from around the world, falling in love with the unique flavors of various herbs and spices.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Fredericks saw an opportunity to turn his passion for cooking into a business. With everyone confined to their homes, he noticed a growing demand for food in his community. He began making burgers and wings, which quickly became a hit, earning him a reputation for his delicious meals and planting the seed for his restaurant venture.
