While today is America’s day, it’s interesting to watch what the rest of the world’s media thinks of our affairs. In some ways, the British and Australian media give us more detailed and accurate reporting on American political affairs than the American legacy media does — not that this is a difficult hurdle to surmount.

The UK Daily Mail, on Monday, was focused not only on the incoming President Trump but on his former electoral opponent — and her “final humiliation.”
Kamala Harris faced her final devastating humiliation on Monday as she was forced to watch Donald Trump being inaugurated as President of the United States.
Harris looked grim-faced and forlorn as she arrived at the ceremony on Capitol Hill, failing to raise a smile as she walked in with President Joe Biden.
She kept her thoughts to herself but to onlookers it appeared as though she was quietly fuming as her time as Vice President came to a brutal end.
The schadenfreude, it is strong with this one. And the 45th and 47th President of the United States didn’t let her off easily.
As Trump delivered his inaugural speech Harris was sitting just feet away.
Trump called the 2024 election the ‘greatest and most consequential election in the history of our country,’ reminding everyone present that he beat Harris in all seven swing states.
Reinforcing the extent of her defeat, Trump added that he won the popular vote by ‘millions.’
That had to sting, and not just a little — a lot. And the thing that really had to fry the former vice president’s bacon, with President Trump now once again bearing a title that Kamala Harris will never own, was that his statements were accurate in every regard. He did carry all seven 2024 swing states, he did gain a roughly 2.3 million vote advantage in the total vote count, and he did win, decisively, in an election that was not only consequential but an utter repudiation of everything the Biden/Harris administration stood for and tried to do.

Even the Brits can see that.

The Daily Mail also, in the last sentence, makes an interesting observation:
She and Emhoff later left the Capitol building as the former vice president and second gentleman, briefly shaking hands with Trump and hugging the Bidens farewell.
Harris left Capitol Hill on Monday afternoon with plans to return to her home in California.
It remains unclear what she will do next.
Whatever she does next, national politics won’t be entering into it. After a devastating and humiliating loss, it’s unlikely, in the extreme, that the Democratic Party will want her to run again. She may have had some chance at regaining a California Senate seat or maybe running for Governor, but Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’s ham-fisted mishandling of the LA-area wildfires may well be changing the political climate in the once-Golden State.
So, yes, the inauguration of Donald Trump was probably unpleasant for Kamala Harris to sit there and watch. But, well, too bad. She ran one of the worst campaigns in modern political history, she was an execrable candidate, she couldn’t speechify her way out of a wet paper bag, and she lost catastrophically. It’s hard to muster much sympathy for her, and on Monday of all days, we here in the United States are reminded that we didn’t just dodge a bullet when Kamala Harris lost this election — we dodged an entire munitions factory.
