Stuff your Kindle — or any e-reader — with free books this week.
Various publishers and organizations are offering hundreds, if not thousands, of free e-books on Amazon and other platforms where you purchase digital reads, according to BookBub.
From gripping mysteries to swoon-worthy romances and thought-provoking queer literature, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
What is ‘Stuff Your Kindle’ Day?
Although this isn’t the official “Stuff Your Kindle” Day that author Zoe York started nine years ago to help indie authors promote their books, the concept has grown so popular that several “Stuff Your Own” pop-up events now happen throughout the year.
During these events, e-books are made available for free for a 24-hour period. Readers don’t need a Kindle Unlimited subscription to access these freebies.
When is Stuff Your Kindle Day?
This month, there are three upcoming dates:
How are these free books different from Kindle Unlimited?
In short: Free event books are yours forever, while Kindle Unlimited offers temporary access to a large library as long as you maintain your subscription.
These books are free for anyone, even if you don’t have a Kindle Unlimited subscription. You don’t need to pay a monthly fee, and once you grab a book during one of these events (usually lasting 24 hours), it’s yours to keep permanently. You can even download the Kindle app on your phone!
Meanwhile, Kindle Unlimited requires a monthly subscription, which gives you access to thousands of books. However, you can only keep 20 books on your shelf at a time, which are technically borrowed. If your subscription ends, you must return the books, and they’re no longer accessible.
The good news is that even if you miss Stuff Your Kindle Day — which pops up several times a year now — and don’t have Kindle Unlimited, you can still get free e-books online. Amazon always maintains a top 100 free Kindle book list accessible daily.
