Markiplier’s ‘Iron Lung’ Arrives After A Long Delay, Know When And Where To Watch His Horror Film

After more than two years of anticipation, YouTube megastar Mark Fischbach, a.k.a. Markiplier, is finally ready to bring his long-awaited horror film, Iron Lung, to the screen. The sci-fi thriller, which marks his debut as writer, director, producer, editor, and financier, is set to premiere after a two-year delay caused by various issues. Since fans have followed the project closely since shooting wrapped in 2023, the new theatrical rollout is now officially on track. When and where to watch Markiplier’s Iron Lung? 

According to Variety, Iron Lung is set to arrive in theaters on January 30, 2025. Initially, the screenings were planned across 50-100 independent theaters during the opening weekend, from January 30 to February 1, 2025. The YouTuber has already stated that he will self-distribute the movie and directly collaborate with cinemas across the country, a rare move for a creator-backed project. Iron Lung’s ticket sales would begin on December 5, 2025, coinciding with the film’s Los Angeles premiere at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Downtown.

Although fans are eager to know about the film’s online release, Markiplier has not yet finalised any platform or release window. He shared with Variety that working on the film’s post-production and getting it to theaters required careful work over a period of around 2-3 years. All the while, the theatrical window has continued to remain his priority. The film is based on the 2022 indie horror game of the same name by David Szymanski and also stars Caroline Rose Kaplan, Troy Baker, and Elsie Lovelock.

The long delay in Iron Lung has created an air of mystery around it. The YouTuber joked that the industry insiders warned him it was ‘woefully unwise’ to write, direct, act, and edit the entire film himself. But now he feels like he has “shown them’ added that his bathroom “might now be a render farm” based on his money invested in it. The creator also claims that Iron Lung “holds a world record for most blood in a horror movie or any movie,” teasing the audiences of a claustrophobic experience for viewers. 

It follows the journey of a convict trapped inside a sealed submarine. He sets out to explore an ocean of blood on a distant moon after a cosmic event, The Quiet Rapture, wipes out most of the universe. Consequently, the film.
