As the economy of the country grows India’s hunger for energy grows in tandem. The following companies have big order books and a huge set of skills to not only deliver them but also to attract new contracts. The order books assure continued revenue stream over the next few years.

Kolkata: The power sector in India is undergoing quick expansion. At the end of Sept this year, four companies have run up an order book of Rs 29,000 crore. These four companies are Kalpataru Projects International, KEC International, Transrail Lighting and Siemens Energy, which unmistakably signals a long-term revenue generation potential. Let’s have a look at how are they placed to harvest the gains and what it implies for the stocks.

Besides generation of both thermal and renewable forms of energy, the transmission business is also expanding fast. As a result, prominent transmission and distribution companies have reported rising order books in September 2025. These companies are set to grow, thanks to big investments in grid expansion, renewable energy integration and nationwide infrastructure schemes.

Kalpataru Projects International

Kalpataru Projects International has reported a mammoth order book of Rs 64,682 crore as on September 30 and transmission and distribution account for the largest share of the contracts. The company’s skills are spread across power, factories, water, railways, urban development, and oil and gas infrastructure, and it manages projects in over 75 countries.

Order book: Rs 16,205 crore (up 47%)
Other sectors: power generation, grid technology and energy storage

Transrail Lighting

Market Cap: Rs 7,645.88 crore
Share Price: Rs 568.75
Order book (including L1): Rs 17,799 crore
T&D share: Rs 14,059 crore (93%)

Electricity demand in rising and the Indian economy is rising fast which promises possibly even higher growth for the transmission and distribution companies. Expansion of renewable energy and significant government investments in national grid modernization are other big drivers. The size of the order books of the above companies indicates the rate of investment in the power sector will be elevated in the coming years. The rising business fortunes would also be reflected in the stock performance.
