RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – The North Carolina Department of Commerce has announced the total spending for film and television production in 2025.
The direct spending amount was $185,521,578 over 11 grants for the year. One such project was filmed here in eastern North Carolina: the second season of MrBeast’s “Beast Games”.
According to the department, there were 38 production sites across the state with over 7,000 crewmates. These include national brands like AutoZone and Food Lion, filming commercials in North Carolina.
“Film production is important to North Carolina, generating economic activity and supporting more than 7,000 jobs across the state last year,” said Governor Josh Stein. “Producers know when they choose North Carolina, they’ll find a supportive environment with an experienced workforce that understands and meets their needs.”
State officials highlight the following as big-name projects from the year: “Top Chef” season 2, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” season 1, and the feature-length film “Bad Counselors.”
