Celtic Casting, an established extras casting agency with a movies catalogue that includes titles shot in south Dublin and Wicklow, such as Wednesday, Blue Moon, The Bad Sisters and Small Things Like These (shot in Wexford) is on the look-out for people with the looks, styles and even lived experience of those decades to be extras in a new film, shooting in the Dublin and Wicklow area, in March and April.
The work is paid and while the team is looking for people “of all shapes and sizes”, there are some attributes that would really tick the right boxes.
For the gents, they would ideally like to see long hair, shaggy hair, or even layered hair. Think the Osmonds or Barry Manilow. Although maybe Bjorn Borg at his peak would be a good fit.
The main requirement is for the hair to be “over the ear length, down to shoulder length” and “no fades or shaved sides”.
Guys with mullets – think Chris Waddle at Italia ‘90 or maybe Billy Ray Cyrus – curly hair, sideburns, clean shaven and/or with moustaches are also required.
They are also interested in boys “with longish, shaggy hair and particularly interested in boys with scouting experience”.
For the ladies, hairstyles of all shapes and lengths are sought, including “long and straight, curly, wavy, shaggy, wedge, mullet and the perm”.
Think one of Whitney Houston’s voluminous big hair days, the teased-up Princess Diana feathered look, or maybe even Madonna’s Boy Toy curls, and it might put you in the running. Of course, a big and bouncy blow dry worked on disco night back in the 1980s, so it might be time to climb up into the attic and retrieve that old reliable piece of kit.
Celtic Casting said it aims to deliver a “fun on-set experience for our background artists, as well as meeting production casting requirements, no matter the brief”.
Acting experience is not required, as the firm represents people of all ages, backgrounds, looks and body types. If you do have acting experience or special skills, you can always include this in your profile when you are signing up.
There is no upfront cost to join but adults pay a small annual fee, which is deducted from their first paid booking. There is no fee for minors.
