FRANKFORT, Ky. (WEVV) — Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced Wednesday he will release his first book this fall, a memoir focused on reclaiming faith as a positive force in American public life.
The book, titled Go and Do Likewise: How We Heal a Broken Country, is scheduled to go on sale Sept. 22, 2026, through St. Martin’s Publishing Group. In the announcement, Beshear describes the work as a reflection on how his Christian faith has informed both his family life and his tenure as governor.
“I’m excited to share something with y’all that I’ve been working on for a while,” Beshear shared in a social media post Wednesday morning. “It’s driven by my faith and values, and I believe it offers a pathway forward that can bring people together”.
According to the publisher, the book serves as a “rebuke” to how faith has been “hijacked, profaned, misused, and corrupted” by President Donald Trump and other public figures. Beshear, the grandson of Baptist lay ministers and son of former Governor Steve Beshear, argues for regrounding public discourse in “compassion and kindness” to begin a national healing process.
The release comes as Beshear’s national profile continues to rise. The two-term Democrat, who won re-election in a state Trump carried by over 30 points in 2024, is often cited as a potential 2028 presidential contender. National political analysts note that such memoirs are frequently used by high-profile governors to establish a platform before a national campaign.
The book is currently available for pre-order.
