Ariana Grande Responds After Wicked Co-Star Cynthia Erivo Calls Out Fans For Using A.I. To Make Edited Posters” target=”_self” data-before-rewrite-localise=”/movies/ariana-grande-responds-after-wicked-co-star-cynthia-erivo-calls-out-fans-ai-posters

The promotion for the Wicked movie has been fierce, with its stars championing the 2024 movie release. However, one piece of marketing was recently involved in a controversy. After cast members Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande recreated the famous Broadway poster for the new film, some fans took liberties with the material. Erivo took offense to one of the A.I.-created posters, which showed Elphaba’s hat dipping further down her brow and sporting a stoic look alongside Grande’s Glinda. Now, Grande is responding to her co-star’s comments. The Grammy winner recently attended the annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles, where Variety asked her to comment on the A.I. poster that received backlash from her co-star. Ariana Grande didn’t speak to whether or not she found the fan-made poster offensive herself but instead focused on the adjustment to artificial intelligence and why the technology sparks such strong reactions:It’s very complicated, because I find A.I. so conflicting and troublesome sometimes. But I think it’s just kind of such a massive adjustment period, and this is something that is such a – it’s so much bigger than us. And the fans are gonna have fun and make their edits, but of course…Fans have famously been making art and altering images for their own amusement long before A.I. became popular. However, given the immense realism of the technology, it really seemed to strike a nerve with Cythia Erivo. Via her statement, which was posted on Instagram, she conveyed that the hat dip — which was done to more closely resemble the Broadway poster — erased her features and seemed to pit her character against her co-star’s.While sharing her response to the conflict, Ariana Grande sought to show empathy for her co-star’s feelings. She also reiterated the conflicting nature of A.I.:I have so much respect for my sister, Cynthia, and I love her so much, and you know, it’s just a big adjustment period. It’s like so much stimulation about something that’s so much bigger than us, so yeah.Given that the Don’t Look Up alum didn’t share her exact feelings on the edits themselves, it can’t be said whether or not she was truly offended by the poster. What can be said is that the Victorious alum has been in the spotlight since she was a teenager and has simultaneously juggled media frenzy, gossip and Internet slander throughout the entirety of her career. More recently, she did respond to backlash over changing the tone of her voice for her portrayal of Glinda.Despite the objections from the Wicked co-lead, fans may continue making edits and renders of the promotional material. As Ariana Grande pointed out, the game has been changed, since A.I. was introduced into the mix. With that, many are still trying to understand what the technology is capable of. Voice actors have already taken legal action against the common misappropriation of their voices via A.I. It’s hard to say just how long the “adjustment period” will take, but some may agree with Grande in that it could take a while. You can see both Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in the first part of Wicked, which hits theaters on November 22.Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News

Following Joaquin Phoenix’s Last-Minute Exit From Movie, Prospective Co-Star Danny Ramirez Shares His Take And Update On Where Things Stand” target=”_self”…

Joaquin Phoenix’s sudden decision to exit a film has resulted in conflict. The actor was set to star in a romantic drama directed by Todd Haynes and made headlines when he withdrew just days before filming was scheduled to begin. Although Phoenix addressed his decision following criticism from the film’s producers, the move caused significant disruption. Amid continued uncertainty, Phoenix’s prospective co-star, Danny Ramirez, shared his take on the matter and an update on the situation. The news was apparently disappointing for the Top Gun: Maverick star, who had been lined up to co-lead the film alongside Joaquin Phoenix. The Black Mirror alum shared his thoughts during a recent red-carpet interview with Variety, during which he reflected on missing the chance to work with such a prominent figure in Hollywood. Despite that, Ramirez did share a brighter take on the situation:Well, I mean, it’s definitely a very complicated situation. But I mean, just the chance to throw down with those creatives in the room, like the audition process was extensive. Even what I walked away with that was just a full artistic validation of throwing down opposite of [Phoenix] in this chemistry read and going like — it was a very intense dramatic scene. There was a moment that I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve arrived as a performer.’ It felt like we were battling. Danny Ramirez, though clearly disappointed, seems to value the benefits of the experience and appears to have taken a lot from the audition process. It’s fair to say that not too many people have the opportunity to act off someone of the Gladiator alum’s caliber. The same goes for working under the direction of someone as talented as Todd Haynes, whose credits include Far from Heaven and May December.Of course, there’s still the matter of whether the movie might actually still happen. During his interview, the No Exit star acknowledged the various unknown variables that still exist when it comes to the project. However, it sounds like he’s still optimistic about Todd Haynes’ movie coming to fruition:I’m still excited obviously working with Todd. … I’ve been shifting gears to different projects, so the most recent update is hopefully, but who knows? It’s just a complicated process. The aftermath of Joaquin Phoenix’s decision continues to have side effects. After being asked about it during a recent press conference, the Oscar winner declined to comment as the other parties involved were not able to explain their sides of the situation. Producer Christine Vachon, all the while, hasn’t minced words. She even described the waste of Todd Haynes’ time as the most “criminal” aspect of the situation.Despite the setback, Danny Ramirez is determined to keep pushing forward in his career. While recalling the moment he heard the news, he said:I was finishing The Last of Us… It’s definitely disappointing, because it’s just like whenever you have the chance to throw down with someone of that caliber – obviously, Todd as a director and Joaquin. … Obviously, there’s a lot more people that have been affected in different ways. But, yeah, if anything, it just gave me more inspiration to keep driving, keep pushing and knowing that I’m on the right path and approaching the work the right way. And so that’s what I’m excited about. There’s been no official update from Todd Haynes or the studio regarding the next steps for the project or who might replace Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role. Yet this setback doesn’t seem to have slowed Ramirez down, and he is moving on to new roles. He’s set to take on a major role as the new Falcon in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World. As alluded to, he’ll also appear on the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us. We’ll have to wait and see what else the future holds for Ramirez as well as Haynes’ movie.Your Daily Blend of Entertainment NewsIn the meantime, be sure to check out our schedule of 2025 movie releases to see what exciting new films are headed to a theater near you.

Alert Witness Foils Business Burglary in Simi Valley, Police Seek Suspects After High-Speed Chase

A burglary attempt at a Simi Valley business was thwarted early Sunday morning, thanks to the alertness of a witness who reported suspicious activity to the authorities. According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the incident took place around 1:00 AM on the 2200 block of Tapo Street, where the witness observed four suspects in masks and dark clothing inside a closed business. The watchful citizen saw the suspects attempting to load a safe into a vehicle and swiftly called 911 to report the crime. Once the perpetrators realized they had been spotted, they abandoned their heist and fled the scene in a dark grey Nissan hatchback that had its license plate obscured, CBS Los Angeles reported. Simi Valley Police Department officers quickly located the suspects’ vehicle and, gave chase, but terminated the pursuit upon deeming the suspects’ high-speed driving too reckless.
Authorities were able to recover the safe, confirming that all currency inside was accounted for. The quick response by both the witness and the police prevented potential losses for the business. “Together, through our shared commitment, can we ensure that our city remains a safe and thriving place to live, work, and grow,” the Simi Valley Police Department expressed in a statement of gratitude toward the community’s vigilance.
As the investigation continues, the Simi Valley Police Department encourages anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact them at (805) 583-6950.

MSM Video App Launched, Find Payment Options, and Movie Rent

MSM Video, a new OTT platform has been launched to cater to Nepali audiences with a dose of video and music content including Kollywood movies. The service available on mobile apps already has some exciting Nepali movies and is set to bring aboard more in the near future. I have started using the app and will share important information about it. Here’s how you can start watching content on MSM Videos, movie costs, subscription models, payment options, and its prospects in Nepal’s OTT market.

MSM Video App Boasts Some Blockbuster Content

MSM Video app self-describes it as premium, the content does tend to reflect that. The platform boasts current popular movies such as Dimag Kharab, Gharjwai, and Maharaja. It says that it will have an overall inventory of over 1,000 movies, 20,000+ music videos, and over 50 TV series, plus plenty more.

But the major and recent push for the app is being given by Nischal Basnet who has announced that his recent film “Behuli from Meghauli” will soon be released on MSM Video. The actor/director, bemused by the lack of shows given to his film, expressed his gratitude to all the audience who watched the movie in the cinema but pulled the movie off large screens on October 17.

He said, “Sincere thanks to all the viewers who watched our movie “Behuli from Meghauli” in various theaters across the country from the day of the screening till the 14th day. Also a big thanks to QFX Cinemas for providing a respectable show.” Referencing the OTP issue, The Loot actor said that the OTP issue would be solved soon and told his fans to download the app.

The movie starring Swastima Khadka in the lead drew a positive reception, but the “lack of shows” upset Basnet who is also the producer of the movie. So, coming to MSM Video will raise the latter’s stakes for sure. Stay informed that the app won’t be available in the USA, Japan, Canada, and Singapore.

Steps to Create an Account on MSM Video

Some users have stated that they faced difficulty during the signing-up process as they couldn’t get the OTP. I had the same experience but got an effective workaround (more on that below). Anyway, here are the steps to sign up for MSM Video:

Launch the app

Tap on Sign Up

Enter your email and password then tap on Sign Up

Now, you receive an OTP on your email

Enter the OTP on the app to get your account verified

Now, you can enter the app subscribe to its content, and watch them on the go

NOTE: If you can’t see the OTP in the inbox section of your email account, it may be found in the Spam folder.

Do read: What is OTP bypass and how does it affect your privacy?

I Didn’t Get the OTP, So How Can I Sign Up?

There’s still a way to sign up for the app even if you don’t get the OTP code. For this, you need to contact the app on its social network handles such as on Instagram and Facebook. When you wait on OTP, you should check the Spam folder too. If it’s not there, you need to send a message to the app. Then, they tell you to hit on the “resend the code” option on the app and give you a valid OTP. By using that OTP, you will successfully sign up as I did.

Anyway, the OTP issue has it do with the company and telecom companies. It’s likely to get a solution soon. So, for now, contacting the app via personal message is your best solution. The MSM Video app is available on both Android and iOS platforms.

Below, I explore the costs of movie subscriptions, the number of devices supported, payment options, etc.

Movie Rent Costs, Subscription, and Number of Devices Allowed

MSM Video offers movies on rent on a weekly, 2 weeks, and monthly basis. For weekly, a movie costs $3.00, for 2 weeks, it costs $4.80, and $6.00 for a month. That roughly translates to Rs 402, Rs 644, and Rs 805, respectively in Nepal. Do note as I am writing this article, the latest update for the app seems to have removed the monthly movie rent option. I will update more about it when I get an official confirmation.

MSM Video MovieWeekly2 WeeksMonthlyCosts$3 (Rs 402)$4.80 (Rs 644)$6 (Rs 805)

Besides, you can choose to subscribe to MSM Video in Basic and Forever plans. Under basic, you can choose monthly for $10 (Rs 1,341) for a month. Likewise, should you choose the semi-annually (six-month) plan, it comes at $55 (Rs 7,376) and $100 for a year which is Rs 13,411. The Basic Plan lets you watch the content on up to 3 devices and you get 3 – 4 new content every month. The subscription gives you unlimited watching benefits on HD and UHD resolution with no time limit.

Similarly, if you choose the “Forever” plan, it comes to you at $1999 which amounts to Rs 268,099 in Nepali. This is a lifetime subscription that comes with up to 4 devices and exclusive rental content for you.

MSM Video App SubscriptionBasicMonthlySix MonthsAnnual$10 (Rs 1,341)$55 (Rs 7,376)$100 (Rs 13,411)Forever$1999 (Rs 268,099)

You can also choose a yearly plan which is available at Rs 4499 which brings to you the benefits of 3 – 4 new content every month, unlimited streaming in HD and UHD resolution, and the ability to download and watch offline in the app. Besides, you can also Google cast the videos to smart TVs.

Diverse Payment Options

MSM Video app provides three different payment options in terms of geographical locations. Subscribers in Nepal can pay for their subscriptions on eSewa and Khalti. Those in India can use Google Pay, paytm, PhonePe, and JioMoney. For users beyond Nepal and India, Visa and Master card options are available for payment.

My App Experience

It’s sort of in development I must say

To test the service myself, I downloaded the app on my Android smartphone. However, I felt a slight inconvenience when I couldn’t sign up as I couldn’t get OTP. But I was thankful for their cooperation. They were quick enough to address it for me by providing me with an OTP.

The company provides OTP code personally in case it doesn’t work for users. I DM’ed them on Facebook Messenger and got a working OTP code which finally enabled me to sign up and sign in to the app. You can do the same as well if you don’t get the OTP.

On The Brighter Side

On a positive note, the app looks like the result of quite some intuitive work. It allows login with a QR code. The interface makes it easy to navigate through options. I would say it’s a minimalist and effective design. The top of the app has options of “All”, “Movies”, and “More” while on the bottom, there are “Home”, “News & Blogs”, “Downloads”, and “Search” options. The “More” option lets you find content according to different genres. For now, there’s thin content available but that shall pile up with time. The movie you download is stored in Downloads so you can easily access them.

What’s also impressive is that when I tap on a movie, it not only gives me the option to rent it but I can also watch its trailer. Likewise, I can also add the movie to “My List”, share it to social networks, see the movie’s cast and crew, and read its synopsis.

Additionally, the key options are easily available through the tabs so I find it to be a user-friendly UI. The available movies are placed on the home screen making things easier for users. Another good thing: As with other video streaming apps MSM Video subscribers can watch its content on smartphones, tablets, web browsers, and TVs. The app even promises to deliver movies in up to 8K resolution and offer 24/7 customer service. In a nutshell, the app gives quite a comprehensive user experience.

Our Conclusion: MSM Video does have a space to shine!

The OTT industry is not crowded or fully matured yet in Nepal. Only a few domestic OTT video platforms have made names such as Cinemaghar and NetTV that offer Nepali as well as foreign movies, web series, and other content. Netflix, though, still remains the most prominent. Therefore, MSM Video does have the potential to claim its space in the industry.

And that shall be a positive thing too. Having competition results in better products and services. Competitiveness can have an overall positive impact that’s good for both companies and customers. In terms of competition, it might contest another new OTT platform Kantipur Cinemas which was unveiled in October 2023.

In Nepal, more Nepali filmmakers have felt the need for commercial OTT platforms that can be alternatives to film halls. So, there’s a need for more OTT platforms that can elevate the digital entertainment scene to the next level. Let’s hope that MSM Video can be the next big platform for digital content.

This Khan once had no money for movie ticket, then became bigger than SRK, Salman, Aamir; his film earned $1.6 billion

Not Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, or Salman Khan, but this actor was the biggest star among the Khans. Interestingly his one film grossed 1.6 billion dollars worldwide, and there was time when he didn’t have money to watch this film’s previous instalment in a movie theatre. The Khan who was a bigger star than SRK, Salman, and AamirFor many decades, Bollywood has been ruled by the Khans. Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan’s movies have always been considered safe bets, breaking and setting box office records. Movies such as Dangal, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Pathaan, and Jawan, are some of the all-time blockbusters that were headlined by these superstars.

However, today we will mention an actor, Khan, who’s the biggest star among Khans. He’s the biggest Khan, and he proved his worth with just one film. He was among the rare actor from India, who became a star in Hollywood as well. He was one of the most acclaimed stars in Bollywood and has always given stellar performances in his films. Sadly he’s not around us, but his contributions towards Indian cinema will always be considered.

Not Shah Rukh, Salman, or Aamir, but he was the biggest Khan

The late Irrfan Khan, popularly known for his performances in Maqbool, The Lunchbox,  Life in a… Metro, wasn’t only active in Bollywood. But he was also an acclaimed artiste in Hollywood, giving standout performances in English blockbusters, including The Namesake, Slumdog Millionaire, The Amazing Spider-Man and many others.

How Irrfan Khan was the biggest Khan?

In 2015, Irrfan was seen playing a major role in Jurrasic World. The film was the fourth instalment of the Jurrasic Park series, and Irrfan played the park owner Simon Masrani. Jurrasic World was among the biggest blockbusters of 2015, grossing $1.671 billion worldwide. Of the Top 3 Khans, the highest-grossing film is Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which grossed Rs 2,024 crore (US$340 million). Going with this record, Irrfan Khan was the biggest Khan among these superstars.

Irrfan couldn’t afford to watch Jurassic Park in cinemas

While promoting Jurassic World, Irrfan said in an interview that he barely had money to watch Steven Spileberg’s blockbuster in cinemas. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the actor mentioned that though he plays a role in Jurassic World, he didn’t have money to go and watch Jurassic Park which came out in 1993.

“I’m playing the park owner, a very flamboyant person in the film. When the first Jurassic Park came out, I barely had the money to see it, and now I’m playing a part. My character is trying to entertain the world with good intentions, but sometimes being flamboyant doesn’t mean having much wisdom,” he said.

Small Business Week kicks off Sunday, Ottawa celebrates its entrepreneurs

Small Business Week kicks off Sunday to celebrate the hard work entrepreneurs do and the role they play in economic growth.

“From local cafés to independent bookstores, small businesses represent the limitless potential of Canada. They might be called small businesses, but they’re anything but small. To the owners, entrepreneurs, and workers behind them: Thank you,” said Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau in a statement Sunday.

“This week, we’re celebrating you and your hard work.”

Ottawa is home to many entrepreneurs. CTV Morning Live spoke with an Ottawa architect Thursday who uses her skills to make designer handmade bags.

Ramla Fendri, the founder of Ramla Officiel handbags, says she started her business when she realized how much she loves creating and making new designs.

She says her biggest inspiration comes from nature, which is why she mixes wood pieces with leather to create the bags.

As an architect, she starts by drawing the shapes of the bags, then moves into the execution process, bringing her pieces of art to life.

More information is available on her Instagram account ramla_officiel.

Diane Kaiser, founder of Dance Moms Ottawa, holds parties for women over 40 years old who like to dance and have fun.

“My friends and I always wished there was a place for us to go dancing, kind of away from the bar scene,” Kaiser told CTV Morning Live Thursday.

“A few things came together, and I just went for it. I made it happen.”

A Halloween party by Kaiser is going to take place on Oct. 26 from 8 p.m. till midnight at One Up Cocktail Pub, which is located on the second floor at 1 Beechwood Ave.

In Lansdowne, a handmade market, Signature Handmade Market, is taking place this weekend, where more than 130 Canadian artists are taking part by showcasing their work and products.

Ticket holders can take OC Transpo for free to get to the event, which is taking place at 1000 Exhibition Way.

The handmade market kicked off Thursday. Sunday is the final day from 8:10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

In his statement, Trudeau says smalls businesses not only create jobs, but also grow the Canadian economy.

“We’re making sure they have the supports they need to succeed,” reads the statement.

“We enhanced the Canada Small Business Financing Program to help them scale-up. We’re delivering over $2.5 billion to an estimated 600,000 Canadian businesses through the new Canada Carbon Rebate for Small Businesses. As of yesterday, some credit card fees have been reduced by up to 27 per cent – saving small businesses $1 billion over the next five years.

“With initiatives like the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy, the Black Entrepreneurship Program, the Indigenous Growth Fund and the 2SLGBTQI+ Entrepreneurship Program, we’re growing an inclusive and innovative small business economy. In short, we’re reducing fees for small businesses, putting more money in their pockets, and making sure more entrepreneurs can start their business sooner. And there’s a lot more work to be done.”
