To The Daily Sun,
Climate warming is irreversible. Even if we slow or stop the warming there is no going back to predictable “normal” weather. And as we have all witnessed over the last several years it has and will continue to get worse. The only way to slow or stop warming is to significantly reduce burning of oil and gas. The good news is that we have the technology to do this. The bad news is that we are one of the only countries in the world where climate change is a partisan issue. The majority of Republican legislators and leaders continue to deny that humans are the cause of the problem and instead vote to expand the use of fossil fuels.
Think about how many more severe droughts, hurricanes that grow into Category 5 storms in a matter of hours, severe heat warnings and emergencies, wildfires, etc. that readers have noticed in just the last five years. We cannot continue business as usual and watch as this gets worse and worse.
I believe that our best solution is to elect leaders that believe in science and act on the facts. For this election the choice is clear, republicans continue to deny the science while Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democrats from our NH governor’s race down to local elections will continue to support legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act which has already successfully stimulated new clean energy projects, investment, new technology and companies that will help grow the new clean tech economy.
