First of all, congrats to Nick on pulling off the coveted science fair 4-peat. That’s rarified air that not many other people are touching. If I was a vindictive asshole, I would compare it to the Lakers bubble title since he was only going up against 11 other kids every year, but I’m not one so I won’t say that.
The one thing you can be sure of with Nick’s science fair project, though, is that he did it himself. If you’re an adult scoping out Bat Mitzvahs you’re a certified freak (I think by legit government laws) and you wouldn’t be lasting very long there. This wasn’t the case for every science fair project. Feits gives his own example of his Dad doing the entire thing for him. Granted, he was battling E. coli so we’ll give him a pass.
The rest of the try hards? Fuck em. Any day in school where we had to bring in an artistic project was consistently the worst day of the year for me. I mean you had kids bringing in masterpieces when I saw that same kid take a shit in the urinal the day prior. The math wasn’t adding up on these and I don’t think they were held accountable enough for it. And to the kid who would always trick his projects out with cool lights…hey dude, we all knew your dad was an electrician. You weren’t fooling anyone.
Now granted, all of these projects took place in elementary school or before so I’m obviously over them now. I don’t harbor any ill will towards my parents for not being gifted with the arts and crafts enough to craft me up a beautiful project. Not like I think about it weekly or anything.
Special guest Nick Turani was in the building today. Tune into the full episode to hear more about his science fair escapades amongst many other things.
