“The U.S. Forest Service National Trail System” will be the topic of the Central Colorado Humanists Sunday Science program at 10 a.m. Nov. 3 at A Church, 419 D St.
Ben Lara, administrator of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, will talk about the National Trail System Act, the National Scenic and Historic Trails and the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, a press release stated.
Lara’s talk will include current and future management for the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, a 3,100-mile trail from Mexico to Canada that spans 20 national forests, three national parks, 13 Bureau of Land Management units and two national monuments.
Lara has more than 20 years of public land management experience working for the private sector, nonprofits and the federal government, including positions at all levels within the U.S. Forest Service in four different countries – Brazil, Honduras, Philippines and the United States. Most recently he accepted the position as the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail administrator.
Central Colorado Humanists sponsor Sunday Science on the first Sunday of each month. Each presentation features a science topic that is understandable by both scientists and nonscientists.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Admission is free, and the public is welcome.
