CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Students at Johnson Elementary School in Charlottesville got a visit from some special scientist this morning.
Five students at the University of Virginia performed a science experiment for the whole school.
They are all part of the chemistry fraternity on grounds, Alpha Chi Sigma.
The UVA students made carbon dioxide and “elephant toothpaste,” all while teaching students how to be a safe scientist.
“It’s really cool to be a part of that experience, that initiative to see we could actually be inspiring some kids to be future medical professionals,” UVA Student Aarathi Manchikalapud said.
The UVA students say coming and teaching chemistry to the next generation is a part of their organization’s philanthropy.
