The Marina Market will soon host a free, family-friendly event aimed at introducing kids to the wonders of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
Science at the Marina is inviting families from all across Cork to partake in arts and crafts workshops, explore interactive exhibits and listen to fascinating talks given by some of the country’s top scientists.
The event brings together experts from Teagasc, University College Cork, Tyndall National Institute and leading Research Ireland centres so there’ll be something interesting for all attendees.
A broad range of topics will be covered which include everything from virtual reality and artificial intelligence to agriculture and food sustainability.
Families can engage with interactive experiences and hands-on technology demonstrations to learn more about the world around us and there are even a few prizes to be won on the day.
Smallies will also be invited to collaborate with artist-in-residence Maria McKinney on a new mural for the Marina Market inspired by The Cow Jumped Over the Moon.
The event aims to be as inclusive as possible and includes a Culture Corner where children can meet researchers who speak their native languages, ensuring science is accessible to everyone.
There will also be a quiet hour held between 10 and 11 am to allow children who require a calmer environment to enjoy the experience.
Science at the Marina will be held on Saturday, November 16 between 11 am and 4 pm and if you’d like to find out more information, you can check out the event’s website here.
