European Union Film Festival kicks off with screening of Italian film ‘La Chimera’

Mumbai, November 8 (IANS) The 29th European Union Film Festival (EUFF) kicked off with the screening of “La Chimera”, a critically acclaimed Italian film by renowned writer-director Alice Rohrwacher.This marks the start of an exciting week showcasing a diverse selection of European cinema, bringing together the best of European filmmaking to Indian audiences. EUFF, featuring 26 award-winning films in 31 languages, is being held in New Delhi from November 7-16 in Delhi across three venues, India Habitat Centre, Instituto Cervantes & Goethe Institute.The Film Festival was inaugurated by Hervé Delphin, the EU Ambassador to India, alongside Italian actress Yile Yara Vianello, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute Andrea Anastasio, Lithuanian filmmaker Tomas Vengris, and a crowd of devoted cinephiles eagerly awaiting the annual showcase of Europe’s finest cinema.Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Hervé Delphin, Ambassador of the European Union to India, stated, “Europe and India are bound by a shared passion for cinema and storytelling, and the European Union Film Festival is a vibrant celebration of this unity. Over the years, the festival has become a key event in the Indian cultural calendar. Entering its 29th edition, the festival is a unique melting pot for cinephiles and culture enthusiasts, providing a platform to create shared experiences. THIS South-Indian movie is set to earn more than ‘Stree 2’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’

The upcoming Malayalam-language horror thriller, directed by Rojin Thomas and written by R. Ramanand, has completed its filming schedule and is currently in the post-production phase, to be released next year.
The first look teaser of the female lead, South cinema A-lister Anushka Shetty, released on her birthday yesterday, has sparked a significant buzz, getting moviegoers excited for the horror flick ‘Kathanar’, about Kadamattathu Kathanar, ‘the legendary priest who is believed to have lived in Kadamattom and possessed supernatural powers’.

Besides Shetty playing the pivotal character of Nila in her Mollywood debut, the film is led by Malayalam veteran Jayasurya in the titular role, along with Prabhu Deva and Vineeth. The cast also features Nitish Bharadwaj, Sandy and Kulpreet Yadav.

Film producer Gokulam Gopalan backs the project under his banner Sree Gokulam Movies, with a massive budget of INR 100 crores. The title has already been predicted to be a grand blockbuster, surpassing the Box Office juggernauts like ‘Stree 2’ and the latest hit ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ of the same genre.
The first of the two-part film series ‘Kathanar’, titled ‘The Wild Sorcerer’ has been scheduled for release in early 2025.
In a first, the title will be released in at least 13 dubbed versions in addition to the original Malayalam, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, English,  Chinese, French, Korean, Italian, Russian, Indonesian and Japanese.

NFP, the Aon company and international insurance brokerage and consulting firm, announced it has acquired HC Financial, a financial planning and corporate employee benefits advisory business based in Galway, Ireland.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The HC Financial team will join NFP, with founder and director, Gerry Cuddy, moving into a consultant role reporting to Colm Power, managing director, Benefits and Wealth.
Since 1988, HC Financial has provided clients in western Ireland with investment, pension and savings propositions and established itself as one of the largest advisory firms in Ireland. They’ve built an outstanding reputation with their dedication to clients and continuing investment in employees and technology.
