The US Ambassador to Bahrain, His Excellency Steven C. Bondy, emphasised the transformative role of the Endeavour Scholarship program in strengthening US-Bahrain relations and advancing the Kingdom’s ambitions in space science. In an exclusive interview with The Daily Tribune during the Bahrain International Airshow, Ambassador Bondy spoke about the scholarship, describing the program as an opportunity for Bahrain’s top students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to participate in NASA’s Space Camp.
“This is the premier program in the United States,” Bondy said, noting that the program’s select participants are among Bahrain’s most talented and driven youth. He highlighted how the in- itiative nurtures young talent in STEM fields, opening doors for future careers and educational pursuits in science and aerospace. Every two years, the Endeavour Scholarship sponsors four Bahraini students, enabling them to gain hands-on expe- rience and mentorship from space science experts.
Ambassador Bondy proudly referenced the latest group of selected students, announced at the airshow, who will join the program in 2025.
“At a larger level, what this does is it brings the United States and Bahrain ever closer together, and it allows the Unit- ed States of America to support Bahrain’s own ambitions in space science,” he explained. Expressing his enthusiasm for the program, Bondy called the Endeavour Scholarship “one of the most fun things we do,” a reflection of his pride in Bahrain’s rising generation of STEM innovators.
