Vienna: The Sultanate of Oman took part in a 3-day ministerial conference titled “Nuclear Science, Technology and Applications and the Technical Cooperation Programme”. The conference, which was held in Vienna, concluded on Thursday.
Yousef Ahmed Al Jabri, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Head of Oman’s delegation to the conference, said that the global meeting offered an opportunity to exchange experiences and information related to the development, transfer and dissemination of nuclear sciences and technologies.
The conference also dealt with the applications of these sciences and technologies in the fields of climate, health, food safety, food security, water resources management and other areas that allow all countries to achieve sustainable development goals, Al Jabri explained.
He pointed out that since the Sultanate of Oman joined the IAEA in 2009 and has ever since benefited from various technical cooperation projects in the fields of agriculture, food safety, human health, the environment and radiation safety.
