Eastside’s Sartin commits to UNCG
Eastside High School junior pitcher Emma Sartin has committed to play softball at NCAA Division I Greensboro.
Sartin went 12-1 with a 0.79 ERA in 2024 and struck out 103 batters in 71 innings of work. She played first base when not pitching and hit .467 with three home runs, 10 doubles and 31 RBIs.
She is the second DI pitcher on Eastside’s roster this spring. Senior Braelyn Hall recently signed with Middle Tennessee State University.

Gate City’s Cox signs with Milligan
Gate City High School infielder Brayden Cox has signed with the baseball team at Milligan University.

He hit .392 with 23 RBIs during his junior season in 2024. Cox also plays golf and basketball for the Blue Devils.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Smith back in Johnson City
Former Science Hill High School star Alasia Smith will be back in Johnson City on Sunday.
Smith is averaging 10.7 rebounds and 6.8 rebounds for the Memphis Tigers, who play at East Tennessee State University on Sunday.
It will be the second straight weekend in which a local player has gotten to play against ETSU in women’s basketball team. Peyton Carter (Abingdon) competed for Tennessee Tech last week against the Buccaneers.
