You can almost hear that nostalgic, immortalized baseline.
One of Peter Sellers’ most iconic roles, idiot savant French Inspector Jacques Clouseau comes to the Roaring Fork Valley as a showing of the original 1963 classic The Pink Panther will be hosted by the Aspen Isis Theatre at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
It’s $15 for general admission. Aspen Film members, teachers and students get in free.
The film presentation — called Happy Accidents, Or Stroke of Genius? — marks the second of a four-part series called Science on Screen. The series kicked off when Aspen Film partnered with Aspen Neuro, Aspen Science Center, Chris Klug Foundation, and The Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies to use film as a way to delve into the world of science, technology and medicine.
“This is an amazing program which we’re proud to be a part of for the second year,” Aspen Film Executive and Artistic Director Susan Wrubel said in a news release. “This series in particular allows us to demonstrate the mission of enlightening, enriching, educating, and entertaining through film.”
And while Clouseau hilariously and ineptly chases a thief, Wednesday’s guest speaker Alexandra Tarika of Aspen Science Center will use this as she explores scientific thinking in solving crime and new technology compared with time-honored investigative methods in a short talk prior to the screening.
Wednesday’s event will be hosted by Nina Gabianelli and includes the short film The Diamond, (2022, Sweden).
