The Chairman of the Teaching Services Commission, Mr. Samson Wangihome, has issued a strong call to recent university graduates in Mathematics and Science to consider a fulfilling career in education.
With a critical shortage of teachers across Papua New Guinea, Mr. Wangihome emphasized the urgent need for qualified educators, particularly in the crucial STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
Speaking at the NCD teachers’ resumption program today, Mr. Wongihome highlighted the significant opportunities available for graduates in these disciplines.
“We are actively seeking talented individuals to join our teaching force and contribute to the intellectual growth of our nation’s youth,” he stated.
“The demand for qualified Mathematics and Science teachers is particularly high, and we encourage all recent graduates with degrees in these fields to seriously consider applying for full-time teaching positions.”
Mr. Wongihome further encouraged graduates to explore teaching opportunities in provinces across the country.
“We understand that moving to a new location can be a significant step,” he acknowledged. “However, we believe that serving our communities in diverse regions offers invaluable personal and professional growth. We encourage graduates to consider their preferences and explore the rewarding experiences that await them in various parts of our beautiful nation.”
The Teaching Services Commission has simplified the application process for aspiring teachers.
Graduates are encouraged to visit the Commission’s website or contact their nearest education office in the province for further information and guidance on applying for teaching positions.
