The Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment in the province of Holguín is strengthening ties with young people, as part of the objectives to increase the graduation of doctors in this specialty and contribute to the replacement of professionals.
Yordanka Maite Hernández Osorio, subdelegate of the branch in the territory, told ACN that this strategy allows identifying potentialities among university students and strengthening relationships with production centers and high-tech companies.
She added that several initiatives focused on this purpose were carried out in 2024, such as the creation of networks of researchers in the electrical sector and the nickel industry, with the aim to promote innovation.
In addition, a group of extracurricular activities are carried out at the universities of Holguín and Moa, which will have an impact in the socialization of results through scientific publications, Hernández Osorio explained.
The sector maintains open-door meetings for different educational levels to teach engineering and its applications in practical life, through the branch of the Cuban Society of Information Sciences.
Holguín also increased its potential with 473 doctors, while higher education institutions have certified training programs in medical, social and basic sciences, said Osorio.
The eastern province also stands out for the publication of research related to ataxia, cancer, malformations, among other topics in high-impact journals, both nationally and in English.
