Applied Science Private University, in cooperation with Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital, organized a specialized scientific seminar titled “Medical Tourism: Correcting the Course” at the university campus. The seminar was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Yaseen Al-Hasban, Chairman of the Senate Health Committee, and attended by a distinguished group of healthcare specialists, decision-makers in the health sector, academics, experts, and representatives of relevant institutions.اضافة اعلان
The seminar aimed to shed light on the current state of medical tourism in Jordan, discuss the challenges facing this vital sector, and explore opportunities to restore its momentum as one of the key pillars of the national economy. Medical tourism is also an area in which Jordan enjoys an advanced medical reputation at both regional and international levels.
The seminar opened with a welcoming address by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Haitham Abdullah Abu Khdeijah, who stressed the importance of holding such specialized forums that bring together medical expertise and academic vision. He noted that these discussions contribute to producing practical recommendations that help correct the course of medical tourism and enhance Jordan’s competitiveness in this field.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Yaseen Al-Hasban expressed his appreciation to Applied Science Private University and Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital for organizing the seminar. He pointed out that medical tourism has received sustained attention from the state over several decades through legislation, facilitation measures, and quality control, and has also occupied a prominent place in economic modernization plans. This, he said, places a shared national responsibility on all concerned parties to advance this sector.
The seminar included two scientific sessions moderated by Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Shdeifat. The first session addressed the reality and opportunities of medical tourism from the perspective of service providers, with the participation of Dr. Fawzi Al-Hamouri, Dr. Haitham Abu Khdeijah, Dr. Nader Al-Bsoul, Dr. Haitham Al-Duwairi representing the Ministry of Health, and Dr. Ayman Al-Qa‘qa‘ representing the Royal Medical Services. Speakers discussed Jordan’s medical capabilities, the quality of healthcare services, and ways to enhance the confidence of incoming foreign patients.
The second session focused on the challenges facing medical tourism and proposed solutions. Participants included Dr. Mohammad Al-Tarawneh, Dr. Justin Abu Anzeh, Dr. Ahmad Al-Sarahneh, Dr. Ahmad Al-Ahmad, and Dr. Ali Al-Saudi. The discussion presented practical perspectives related to legislation, health marketing, and the integration of roles between the public and private sectors.
The seminar concluded with a closing session dedicated to presenting the key recommendations, which emphasized the need to unify national efforts, develop supportive policies, and enhance service quality. These steps aim to restore medical tourism to its leading position and reflect Jordan’s positive image as an advanced medical hub in the region.
In its closing remarks, Applied Science Private University reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its academic and community role and to strengthening its partnerships with national healthcare institutions, foremost among them Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital, in a manner that serves national priorities and supports the path of comprehensive development.
