Chennai: Tamil Nadu state department of archaeology will organise an international science conference in Madurai from Jan 22 to 24. The conference will deliberate on recent findings in TN, including scientific datings, ancient DNA, facial reconstruction, metallurgical studies, palaeobotanical and archaeozoology studies in different sessions.“By conducting these studies, we are trying to reconstruct ancient life, including food habits, agricultural activity, rituals, and trade. They also reveal information about the palaeo environment, including animals and plants. This will highlight how the state is trying to reconstruct its past through science,” said professor K Rajan, academic and research adviser to TN department of archaeology.Nearly 70 scholars from foreign countries and other states are expected to take part in this science conference. The department is collaborating with more than 20 research institutions from India and overseas.
