WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Young Scientist Academy (YSA) received a $20,000 donation from Gold Bond Building Products through National Gypsum’s 2025 NGC Giving Campaign.
Plant teammates nominated YSA for the donation, which will expand access to hands-on STEM education for students in the Wilmington community.
“Support like this allows us to meet students where they are and invite them into meaningful scientific experiences that build confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging,” said Dr. Rob Condon, Executive Director of the Young Scientist Academy.
YSA organizers said the partnership with National Gypsum Company helps deliver student-centered programming that connects science learning to real-world challenges and opportunities.
“These education initiatives are essential in equipping the next generation with the technical skills and knowledge to become innovative leaders,” said Thomas C. Nelson, chairman, president, and CEO of National Gypsum Company. “By strengthening science, technology, engineering, and math education, these programs help prepare a workforce ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.”
