“Insights from a Geriatrician” is the title of the Central Colorado Humanists Sunday Science program for Jan. 4, 2026. Dr. Erika Altneu, M.D., will discuss expected age-related changes, best preventive practices, advance directives and new advances in medicine.
Dr. Altneu received her medical degree from the University of Connecticut and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
After completing a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at CU, she practiced in Lakewood, Colorado before making the move to Salida.

She now practices at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center.
Central Colorado Humanists sponsor Sunday Science on the first Sunday of each month at A Church, 419 D Street in Salida.
Each presentation is informative and features a science topic that is understandable by both scientists and non-scientists.
The doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the talk begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. Admission is free, and the public is welcome.
