Dr. Al-Haifi noted that the honoring comes in recognition of a rich journey of research and innovation across various disciplines, and in line with authentic values promoted by Islamic law, which links knowledge with faith and ties the advancement of nations to the stature of their scholars.
He added that the university views this recognition as a covenant of loyalty and a message of commitment to entering a new phase that relies on scholars’ knowledge as a driver of development, a support for postgraduate students, a catalyst for high-quality scientific research, and a pillar for serving society.
He highlighted the role played by the honored scholars through dedicated teaching, rigorous research, contributions to academic program development, and supervision of postgraduate students—who have become active members of society, carrying knowledge alongside values and ethics.
The university president stated that the recognition covered eight scientific categories, including scientists listed among the top “2 percent” globally, distinguished researchers under Scopus and Arcif classifications, authors and translators of books, scientific journals, research derived from master’s and doctoral theses, as well as the most prolific publishers in humanities disciplines and in the English language.
For his part, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Abdulkarim Zubaiba explained that Dhamar University continues to consolidate its academic standing by supporting scientific research and encouraging high-quality publication. He stressed that honoring researchers and scientific book authors—coinciding with the “Day of Loyalty to the Pioneers of Giving”—reflects the university’s deep belief in its scientific mission and civilizational role.
He noted that the annual recognition, now in its fourth edition, has gone beyond being a symbolic event to become an effective motivational platform that has strengthened the culture of scientific research within the university, encouraged faculty members to publish in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals according to international standards, improved academic performance, raised the university’s indicators in global databases, and enhanced its regional and international ranking.
Dr. Zubaiba considered the Day of Loyalty to the Pioneers of Giving a message of appreciation for the university’s first scholars who established traditions of scientific research and contributed to building this academic edifice, serving as models of sincerity and scholarly responsibility.
He renewed the commitment of the Vice Presidency for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research to continue supporting researchers, encouraging scientific authorship, motivating distinguished publication, expanding research partnerships, and providing an academic environment conducive to creativity and innovation, in a manner that serves societal issues and achieves comprehensive development. He congratulated the honored researchers on this well-deserved recognition reflecting their excellence and academic contributions.
In turn, the Director General of Scientific Research at the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ali Al-Khawlani, affirmed the ministry’s full support for all efforts aimed at advancing scientific research, empowering researchers, and encouraging high-quality academic publishing.
He reviewed the ministry’s efforts over the past two years to implement a national project to collect the scientific output of Yemeni researchers inside and outside the country from 1970 to 2025. He noted that approximately 25,000 master’s and doctoral thesis titles have been cataloged to establish a national database that prevents duplication, serves researchers, and helps direct scientific research toward development priorities.
Al-Khawlani added that the project included documenting Yemeni scientific journals, academic conferences, and promotion research for faculty members, with the participation of representatives from various Yemeni universities.
He explained that the recognition reflects the quality of the scientific research produced and the university’s presence in global databases such as Scopus and Arab databases such as Arcif, enhancing the status of Arab scientific research and preserving the role of the Arabic language in the humanities.
On behalf of the honorees, Director of the Water and Climate Change Center at Dhamar University Dr. Nabil Al-Ariqi stated that the university’s recognition of its scholars, despite the difficult circumstances facing the country, sends a message of hope, renews the spirit of giving among its members, and motivates the minds of its scholars who have inscribed the university’s name in the records of scientific research.
He affirmed that Dhamar University’s scientists and researchers have proven their ability to transform challenges into scientific hypotheses, hypotheses into results, and results into realities that serve humanity and advance the nation. He stressed that publishing in globally indexed journals (ISI) represents a cornerstone of the research and innovation system and an international benchmark for measuring the quality and impact of scientific output.
He explained that journals indexed in global databases such as Web of Science and Scopus are subject to rigorous peer-review standards, and publishing in them contributes to enhancing the university’s academic reputation, increasing citation indicators, improving global university rankings, and elevating the researcher’s standing through improved research metrics in international databases.
