Next month, National Geographic Live: Cosmic Adventures with space expert Tracy Drain is coming to the Vancouver Playhouse.
Drain is an aerospace engineer and National Geographic explorer working in the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory who has been involved in the creation, testing and operation of the complex robotic spacecraft presently travelling through the solar system that provides us with new insights into our immediate place in space.
Among Drain’s projects are the Mars Rovers, a mission to Jupiter and expanding our understanding of exoplanets — planets outside of our solar system — that are reshaping our entire understanding of how the galaxy works.
A full-time member of the engineering staff at NASA’s lab since 2000, Drain is a 2024 National Geographic Society Wayfinder Award recipient. Currently, she is the lead flight systems engineer on the Europa Clipper mission, which is scheduled to arrive at Jupiter in 2030.
