Guantanamo.- The University of Guantánamo celebrated Cuban Science Day with outstanding research results that contribute to the socioeconomic development of the province and the entire country.

The Cuban Academy of Sciences Award was presented to Dr. Yaima Paz Soto, from the Faculty of Engineering and Technical Sciences.
During the commemoration, the link between the University, Science, and society was highlighted, in an integration process that simultaneously strengthens alliances with the business sector, in order to put scientific studies, technologies, and innovations at the service of the economy and social progress.
Alexis Socia Iglesia, Director of Science, Technology, and Innovation at the University, mentioned the main results of the work in that area during 2025. To achieve local development, work was carried out in accordance with new demands, resulting in the completion of 40 research projects.
He noted that 27 research projects correspond to strategic sectors, 10 articles are in the database of the web of science, 122 in the database of the Electronic Journal SciELO, and three books and 29 book chapters were published, whose authors are university professors.
