MINISTER of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati, has continued to receive commendations on behalf of the Zambian Government for successfully negotiating the Global Digital Compact (GDC), which was annexed to the Summit of the Future adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Zambia, through Dr Chola Milambo, Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, co-facilitated the GDC intergovernmental negotiations alongside Sweden.
The successful negotiation of the GDC is a significant milestone for the country.
And Mr Mutati noted that digital technologies have the potential to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in today’s interconnected world.
He was speaking at a roundtable on the Global Digital Compact – Aspiration to Action, alongside Google Chief Executive Officer, Sundar Pichai, and other global leaders.
The Minister emphasised the need for collaborative efforts, strategic partnerships, and a shared vision to advance progress toward the SDGs.
He also highlighted that Africa has made substantial progress in recent years, particularly in digital infrastructure, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Mr Mutati attended the event along with his counterpart, Minister of Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development, Charles Milupi.
This is according to a statement issued by Namatama Njekwa, First Secretary for Press and Public Relations at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations.
