LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Families will have the opportunity to introduce their kids to the world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics on Thursday night.
The Science Spectrum and the Texas Tech Whitacre College of Engineering are hosting Family STEM Night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
You can find details, directions, and museum hours at sciencespectrum.org.
The event is in celebration of National Lights on After School Day, celebrating after school programs and emphasizing their importance in education.
The free event will include activities with robotics and drones, computer game coding, and plenty more.
“Being able to spotlight things that kids may not get to do during the day through after school activities is really what we’re trying to bring to the community, to see that there are offerings that don’t have to do with the things that happen during school,” Heather Sherrill said, “so really getting kids encouraged in the STEM field and engineering and robotics, coding, drones, things like that.”
Family STEM Night is free to attend and the Science Spectrum will also offer discounted tickets for anyone who wants to play in the museum during those times.
