The total funding available under the NATO grant program is EUR 500,000 which is intended to promote excellence in science and technology research. Researchers from NATO member states can participate in the program, receiving from 25,000 to 100,000 euros for each project chosen for support.
Under the grant program, projects can be submitted in areas such as deterrence and defense, diversity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, emerging and transformative technologies, and resilience and predictability in science and technology.
Citizens of NATO member states who work in or are affiliated with NATO governments, research institutes, non-governmental organizations or the private sector are eligible for grant program funding. Applicants must be residents of the country where the institution they work for is located. Women are especially invited to participate in the program by submitting projects in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The projects must be completed by the end of 2025 and applicants must be able to outline the economic viability of their proposals and include reference to previous experience in implementing projects. The application must include an assessment of potential risks associated with the proposal and a risk mitigation plan.
