Flu is a killer. It’s no wonder, then that the so-called “Flumonia” that caused serious concern in Australia recently is becoming a talking point here as winter approaches.
The Health Information and Quality Authority (Hiqa) has reported that during the 2022 to 2023 flu season, over 4,500 people aged 65 or over were diagnosed with flu and nearly 1,800 were hospitalised while 70 needed ICU treatment — and 159 people died.
