SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – The Missouri Institute of Natural Science broke ground on a museum expansion.
The institute is located at Riverbluff Cave in southern Greene County. The expansion will provide space for classes, lectures, birthday parties, and other group events. It will also expand the institute’s expanding world-class mineral collection. The new addition is being built on the northwest side of the existing museum.
The Missouri Institute of Natural Science was founded in 2003. The museum opened in 2005. It was originally 3,600 square feet, then had its first expansion in 2015. This new expansion will cost $200,000, funded by grants and donations.
