Landon Knack is a World Series champion.
The former Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University star capped a memorable rookie year to say the least as the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the championship with a 7-6 win on Wednesday over the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the 2024 World Series.
The Dodgers won the series four games to one.
Knack became the second guy who attended ETSU to play for a World Series champ. Jim Mooney pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1934 when they won it all.
The right-handed pitcher also became the third local in the pros to win a World Series title in the last nine seasons following relief pitcher Justin Grimm (Virginia High) with the Chicago Cubs in 2016 and outfielder Evan Carter (Elizabethton) with the Texas Rangers in 2023.

Knack and Carter were both rookies.
Knack went 3-5 with one save and a 3.65 ERA in 15 games (12 starts) for the Dodgers this summer as he shuttled between Triple-A Oklahoma City and L.A. for a large portion of the season.
He made three appearances – one in each round – during the playoff run for the Dodgers and had a 7.71 ERA. He pitched four innings of one-run ball in Game 4 on Tuesday.
Los Angeles drafted Knack in the second round in 2020 after a stellar career at ETSU.
