The evangelist Charles Finney stated, “Politics are a part of a religion in such a country as this, and Christians must do their duty to their country as a part of their duty to God. God will bless or curse this nation according to the course Christians take in politics.” Believers in Christ do have a special role: a stewardship before God of the vote we cast.
The Scriptures tell us in Proverbs 29:2, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” Elections really do have consequences.
