During his visit to the People’s Republic of China, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing toured Yunnan Vocational and Kunming University of Science and Technology in Kunming City yesterday afternoon.
At the vocational college, the delegation received a warm welcome from college officials, who presented information on the college’s academic programmes in vocational and technical fields. The college has established connections with international institutions, including Myanmar’s Border Areas and National Races Development University, to support vocational training for skilled workers and professionals. The Senior General engaged in discussions to learn more about their operations and training initiatives.
The delegation then visited the college’s Electromechanical Training Centre, where they observed advanced machinery used in international competitions, including the World Skills Competition Training Base for network cabling. College representatives provided explanations of their cutting-edge technological facilities and activities.
At Kunming University of Science and Technology, the Senior General and his entourage were welcomed by Party Secretary Mr Teng Jiahua and other university officials. They viewed a video presentation on the university’s operations, followed by a live demonstration by Pro-rector Mr Liu Yanwen, showcasing AI technology applications.
The delegation further explored departments focused on UAV and drone technologies for agriculture, construction, and surveillance, as well as advanced robotics, sensor technology, and automated systems. University officials explained the application of these technologies, and the Senior General asked questions and discussed.
As a gesture of marking the visit, gifts were exchanged between the Senior General and the university’s Party Secretary, followed by a group photo with university representatives.
Kunming University of Science and Technology, founded on 1 September 1954, is known for its engineering programmes and also offers courses in medicine, agriculture, and biotechnology. The university has partnerships with institutions in 49 countries and regions, with 245 international cooperation agreements, fostering advanced research, engineering training, and high-level collaborative projects. — MNA/KZL
