Khammam: A Regional Forensic Science Laboratory has come up in Khammam to render services to four districts.
Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt said that the State’s Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) which has been making steady progress in the field of scientific research in providing reliable scientific services in the administration of the criminal justice system.
The services of the regional FSL would be available to Khammam district as well as Kothagudem, Mahabubabad and Suryapet districts. The old district public relations office building at Jubilee Pura has been renovated to set up the forensic science laboratory, he said.
In cases of murder, rape and extortion, knowing the cause of death in suspicious circumstances is the most important aspect of criminal investigation. In such cases, the medical officer used to examine the dead body, take out the body parts like blood, brain, lungs, kidneys and others to send them to Warangal Forensic Science Laboratory for testing.
Now testing of such body parts from the above four districts could be done in Khammam for speeding up the crime investigation. Police officers of the four districts should take advantage of the services of the forensic science laboratory, Dutt noted.
