Dr. Donna L. Lybecker is a Professor of Political Science and Director of the Idaho State University Global Studies program. Donna’s research and teaching cover the areas of International Relations, Comparative Politics, and Environmental Politics, with emphasis on political narrative, democracy, border studies, and sustainability. She believes teaching and research are intertwined, and thus frequently includes students in research endeavors. Among her recent research, Dr. Lybecker is working to examine issues of democracy and populism, and (with Dr. Mark McBeth) explore how to strengthen our own democracy by bringing discussions and applications into the classroom. Recently, Dr. Lybecker was selected as a Higher Education Ambassador with the Council on Foreign Relations. In her research and teaching endeavors, Dr. Lybecker aims to promote better-informed conversation and to improve student, decision-maker, and community understanding of the framing of political issues and global democracy.
