MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Photographs of Jupiter taken by NASA’s Juno space probe reveal the beauty of the solar system’s most massive planet and are useful for popularizing science, astrophysicist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Bisikalo told TASS.
Earlier, NASA released another set of high-quality photos of Jupiter sent to Earth by the Juno probe. The spacecraft was launched in August 2011 and reached the planet in early July 2016.
“One of the spacecraft’s instruments is JunoCam, a two-megapixel camera designed to capture the dynamics of Jupiter’s clouds and satellites. Despite its relatively modest resolution compared to modern scientific instruments, JunoCam has proven its effectiveness. Open access to the images allows astronomy enthusiasts and artists from around the world to process and study images of Jupiter, bringing the cosmos closer to the masses. In this way, Juno and its JunoCam, despite its technical limitations, are contributing to Jupiter science by providing significant scientific and educational support for the study of this mysterious planet and its moons,” he said.
