The 1993 high school wing, which housed a former gymnasium, was recently demolished. Now, Rochester Community Unit School District #3A is making way for a new cutting-edge science addition with a continued focus on its students’ future. This week, district officials, community leaders, faculty, staff, and students came together to break ground on the new 20,000 SF science addition.
“This major milestone will transform the appearance of our high school and every student’s educational experience. With five cutting-edge classrooms and a new student services suite, every Rochester student will have access to state-of-the-art learning environments and the personalized support they need to reach their full potential,” said Rochester’s Superintendent Dan W. Cox.
S. M. Wilson & Co. noted in an official statement that it is excited to be the construction partner with the school district on this project, and BLDD Architects serves as the district’s design partner. Other district improvements include secure entrances at Rochester High School and Rochester Elementary School and upgrades to Rochester’s Rocket Booster Stadium, baseball, softball, soccer, and tennis facilities.
