SEAToday.com, Jakarta – Indonesia expressed its readiness to organize the 12th World Science Forum (WSF) in 2026, after being appointed as the host of the event at the closing of the 11th WSF at the Hungarian Parliament building in Budapest from November 20-23.
Principal Secretary of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Nur Tri Aries Suestiningtyas, who led the Indonesian delegation at the 2024 WSF, expressed her pride at Indonesia’s selection as host of the event.
“It is a great honor for Indonesia to host WSF 2026,” Nur said through a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (11/27). Nur emphasized that Indonesia is ready to welcome the world’s scientists to the prestigious event that connects the scientific community, policy makers, and the global community with the big theme “Science for Global Resilience and Equity”.
“This reflects our commitment to sustainability and equity in science,” she said. Indonesia’s appointment as host is inseparable from a rigorous selection process, where Indonesia competed with Turkey and Vietnam in this regard.
In a bilateral meeting with the President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Indonesia conveyed its strong commitment to organizing the WSF by paying attention to crucial global issues, such as transformation, equality, and policy efficiency in the field of science.
The 12th WSF Forum, he said, is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a global innovation center and a pioneer in addressing world challenges through science.
“Indonesia looks forward to this historic moment and is ready to welcome delegates from around the world to share ideas, find innovative solutions, and strengthen the role of science in building a better future,” said Nur Tri Aries Suestiningtyas.
