Science Central to hire planning consultant
Science Central is looking to develop the organization’s next five-year plan and has released a Request for Proposals, hoping to attract an experienced strategic planning consultant.
A Monday news release said the consultant would guide the development of a plan covering 2027 through 2032. The hands-on science center impacts 140,000 people annually through exhibits, programs, and community partnerships.
“As we look ahead, it’s important our next chapter is built with imagination, inclusion, and long-term sustainability,” said a statement from Mandee Mikulski, Science Central’s executive director. “We will create a plan that reflects our mission, strengthens access for all, and positions us for continued growth.”
The consultant will lead a participatory planning process involving staff, board members, Science Central members, donors, and community partners, a news release said. The project will focus on mission clarity, strategic priorities, financial sustainability, community engagement, exhibits, and overall accessibility, as well as a long-range vision for visitor experience and increased attendance.

State senator resigns to lead IURC
State Sen. Andy Zay, R-Huntington, said Monday that he reflects on his time in the elected position with “tremendous honor.”
On Friday, Gov. Mike Braun announced Zay as the new chair of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
The new position requires Zay to resign. A caucus of precinct committeemen from his district will elect his successor. District 17 includes an area including Huntington, Wabash and Grant counties.
“This transition allows me to continue serving Hoosiers across Indiana in a new capacity while remaining focused on issues critical to the future of our state,” he said in a Monday statement. “Representing Senate District 17 has been a privilege, and serving as a voice for the families, businesses and communities in northeast Indiana has been among the most meaningful aspects of my time in the General Assembly.”
