This year Mary Immaculate Secondary School in Lisdoonvarna will once again be sending an army of North Clare’s brightest and best to Dublin to take part in the annual Stripe Young Scientist of the Year Competition.
The secondary school is now almost synonymous with the event, and regularly secures a high number of qualifying projects for the competition.
This year is no different, with 13 of Clare’s 21 qualifying projects coming from the Lisdoonvarna school.
This is a special year for Mary Immaculate however, with students from the school’s newly established ASD class qualifying for the finals of the Young Scientist of the Year Competition for the first time.
With each student required to spend a number of days in Dublin to take part in the event, the school’s parents’ association has started a funding campaign to help fund this year’s participants.
School principal, Mona Hynes, is hoping that the campaign can offset some of the cost for the school and for the families of those taking part.
