Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the 52nd State-Level Children’s Science Exhibition in D.N. High School, Keonjhar and encouraged students to nurture curiosity and research-oriented thinking from an early age.
Science as the Foundation of Progress
Majhi addressed the gathering and said today’s children will become tomorrow’s scientists, invent new technologies, and contribute to making India self-reliant. Moreover, he stressed that science and technology drive the progress of civilisation, while art and culture enrich traditions. In addition, he referred to India’s ancient heritage, noting that sages and scholars created scientific principles centuries ago. He cited Acharya Kanad’s atomic theories and Odisha’s astronomer Pathani Samant, who measured the distance between Earth and the Moon using bamboo instruments.
Knowledge, Culture and Modern Education
Furthermore, Majhi explained that India has always nurtured a culture of knowledge, combining philosophical inquiry with practical science. He urged students to use modern resources such as digital libraries and online platforms to expand their learning. At the same time, he reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India and emphasised that science and innovation will play a decisive role.
Education Reforms in Odisha
Meanwhile, Majhi highlighted Odisha’s implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. He announced plans to establish Pandit Godabarish Mishra Model Primary Schools in every panchayat, with 2,200 schools to be built in the first phase at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore. He said quality education at the primary level will strengthen learning outcomes at higher levels.
Exhibition Highlights
Finally, the Chief Minister visited student projects displayed at the exhibition. Senior officials, including Manoj Kumar Padhi, Director of Mass Education, legislators Fakir Mohan Nayak and Akhila Chandra Nayak, Keonjhar Municipality Chairperson Niku Sahu, and District Collector Vishal Singh, attended the event.
